Dowsing Rods

Before you start dowsing, you should know there are many living things that detect the electromagnetic or natural fields in nature, they can be detected without seeing it. So seeing is not always believing!

  • Pit viper snakes can detect the Infrared light spectrum of the magnetic field. Those pits hold membranes capable of sensing temperature changes as small as two thousandths of a degree, a capability far exceeding state-of-the-art manmade sensors.
  • Bats use ultrasound spectrum for hunting.
  • Animals such as trout and pigeons possess the iron mineral magnetite in their bodies to detect electromagnetic fields.
  • Sharks rely on numerous senses to find food, navigate through the ocean, reproduce, and other activities. Electro-receptive organs enable sharks to sense weak electrical fields given off by potential prey. When these receptors are spread over a greater area, it allows the shark to more accurately detect these electrical and magnetic pulses.
  • Researchers believe that the head of the hammerhead shark serves as a heightened "electro-magnetic" sensor:  it seems likely that hammerheads, like most fish, have the ability to sense small electro-magnetic currents.

Finding energy is not a “special gift” but a sense that needs to be developed, anyone can learn to dowse. Anyone, as long as you are receptive and have a positive open mind, you can learn to dowse.

Some Advice on using dowsing rods for finding just about anything, using Electromagnetism and Energy.

Earth, Health and geopathic stress will be discussed in a later forum.

First; Use your Rods like a meter, they are and they do work like a scientific meter.

Remember: Your rods are a simple tool to find energy fields. They work similar to an EMF meter; there are no magic or special powers to make your rods work.

Your rods are not Ouija boards, so don’t treat them like one.

Prayers are not required to run your EMF meter but what ever puts you in a positive state of mind is very valuable to dowsing.

You do not have to ask permission to get any information from your rods, although I do refer to my rods as “they”, as if they were real.

Second; Find something easy for your first task(s) and stay on easy items until you feel comfortable.

Finding items that can be seen with the naked eye will help you understand the signals your rods send you… and practice, practice, practice.

  • Start your quest with an item, first think of that item. Think about what it is and think of its energy. Everything has energy so don’t think of the exercise as weird. Really think positively that you can find that energy.
  • Start with one object laid on the ground. Use a water bottle or a coin or electrical extension cord. Then approach the item, you will see how your rods move to alert you to the object.
  • Try walking away from it and see if your rods direct you to, turn around. Move in all sorts of directions away from the item to test the rods movement to keep their focus on the item. They may tap you on the shoulder or arm, to signal you to turn around, or if you use a short rod point at you.  Make mistakes so you can be guided in the correct direction so you can see how they are trying to make you turn around or go back.
  • Sometimes your rods move independently of each other, where one rod is the leader and the other at rest. Follow the dominate rods lead and the other rod will follow. I am right handed and my right rod is usually the dominate rod. That may or may not be true, I find it very interesting.
  • Practice this method with many types of objects over and over to learn responses.

When I see novice dowser work, I often see they fail to follow what their rods are telling them to do. It is obvious that they are either heading the wrong way or mis-interupting where they are being guided to. So do not scrimp on the basics so you know exactly what your rods are guiding you to do. This is where most people make the biggest mistakes, by not practicing with objects you can see, long enough.

After you feel really comfortable at finding things you can see, then you can go on and find things you can’t see.

The idea of finding something you cannot see is a difficult concept but you must make sure you have practiced the above method before you go on with the unknown.

My next advice is: Make sure there are no distractions while you are doing your exercises and get a partner for assistance. Never ever dowse when in a negative mood or distracted.

Again you should start with something easy to find. You can test the concept of finding something you cannot see by having a helper hide the item for you.  This way you can test your ability in controlled conditions and learn to follow your rods signals.

Have your partner hide the object in a small room or outside area.

Before you start looking think of what you are going to be looking for, think of what kind of energy this object has. Use your rods and go slow take small steps concentrate and follow the signals from your rods. When you turn the wrong way your rods will alert you the same way they did when you could see the object in the first exercise. This takes time and patience and lots of practice to do well.

If you start with something you really need like your keys, sun glasses, wallet or cell phone, you will have greater success as there is an emotional attachment to the item.

Repeat this exercise numerous times until you feel pretty confident of finding items in a controlled environment. Do not move to the next step until you have this step mastered.

Once you have a good feel for finding things you cannot see, it is time to do the hardest of all. Find things you cannot see and no one has placed them there for you to find. You have to have total trust when using your rods for the unknown.

All that is required to be your best at dowsing is practice and positive thinking.

The basics for finding anything is the same, whether treasure, Ghosts, or your lost keys, you can find it with your dowsing rods.

When you start to find objects by yourself be aware if you are empathetic and you go looking for treasure on the beach you may find yourself triggering on emotional object that were lost. I never find doubloons but I do find car keys and jewelry and trigger on the emotion.

You may have some natural abilities that you already have that will incorporate into your dowsing.

With over 20 years of dowsing I still learn new things, so keep that mind open!
